Description

Wine & Soul Pintas Vintage Port is a fortified red from very old field-blend vines at Vale de Mendiz in the Douro Valley.

Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges founded the winery in 2001 around a small parcel of very old vines above Pinhão, in the Cima Corgo. The vineyard is a field blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela and other local grapes, all picked and fermented together. Grapes are foot-trodden in stone lagares, and neutral spirit stops the ferment with plenty of sugar left. After a couple of years in cask it's bottled unfiltered to age in glass.

Dense, sweet and firmly tannic, it will go for decades but can be enjoyed young with a long decant. Serve at 16–18°C in small glasses after dinner, with Stilton, walnuts or dark chocolate.
