Wirra Wirra Church Block Cabernet Shiraz Merlot 375ml is the half-bottle format of Wirra Wirra's long-running McLaren Vale red blend.

Church Block has been part of the Wirra Wirra story since 1972, soon after the historic estate founded by Robert Strangways Wigley in 1894 was brought back into production. The recipe has stayed true to its roots: Cabernet Sauvignon for structure and dark fruit, Shiraz for fleshy richness and Merlot for a softer, rounder finish. The grapes are grown across McLaren Vale, where maritime breezes temper the warmth and help retain freshness. This 2023 release carries blackberry and plum through to hints of thyme, star anise and roasted coffee, with fine, grainy tannins. The smaller bottle suits a dinner for two or a glass midweek.

Open it with a weeknight steak, lamb cutlets or a mushroom risotto, served at around 16 to 18 degrees. Half bottles tend to mature a little faster, so enjoy this one over the next few years.
