Wirra Wirra Church Block Shiraz 2024

Wirra Wirra Church Block Shiraz is a plush, approachable McLaren Vale Shiraz under the winery's best-known label.

Church Block began life as a Cabernet-based blend in 1972, and this straight Shiraz extends the name to the variety McLaren Vale is most famous for. The region's Mediterranean climate, with warm summers tempered by afternoon breezes off the gulf, and its mix of sand, clay and ironstone soils give wines of ripe fruit and soft, rounded tannins. The 2024 opens with red plum, baking spice and a hint of bay leaf, then fills the mouth with plum and blueberry, finishing on smooth tannins and a creamy mocha note.

Enjoy it at around 16 to 18 degrees with a barbecue, beef burgers, braised short ribs or a chilli con carne. It's ready to drink now and should hold well for several years.
