Description
Wirra Wirra Scrubby Rise Sauvignon Blanc is a fresh, easy-drinking South Australian white made to be enjoyed young.
First established in 1894 by Robert Strangways Wigley and brought back to life in 1969 by the much-loved Greg Trott, Wirra Wirra is one of McLaren Vale's best-known names. The Scrubby Rise label takes its name from the vineyard in front of the winery's century-old ironstone cellars, whose rich soils produce some of the estate's best fruit each season. The team happily admit the vineyard is actually flat and has no scrub to speak of. For this Sauvignon Blanc the fruit is drawn from the cooler Adelaide Hills, where higher elevation helps keep the grapes crisp and aromatic.
Chill it well and open it with good food, friends and conversation. It goes nicely with goat's cheese salads, fish tacos, oysters or Thai-style prawn dishes. Drink within a year or two of vintage.
