Wirra Wirra Single Vineyard Flower Grenache 2023

Wirra Wirra Single Vineyard Flower Grenache is an energetic, fine-boned Grenache from a single McLaren Vale vineyard.

The single vineyard wines are Wirra Wirra's way of showing how individual McLaren Vale sites shape a wine, and the Flower Vineyard gives Grenache real fragrance and tension. The region is widely regarded as one of Australia's best for the variety, with old vines and sandy, free-draining soils producing perfume and fine tannin. The 2023 shows ripe raspberry, dried herbs, red plum, bay leaf and orange rind on the nose, with raspberry coulis and blood orange on a piquant palate. Chalky, graphite notes and sandy tannins give it plenty of drive.

Serve at around 15 to 17 degrees. It suits roast duck, lamb with rosemary and garlic, porcini pasta or grilled quail, and will reward a few years in the cellar.
