Wirra Wirra Single Vineyard Hickinbotham Cabernet Sauvignon 2024

Wirra Wirra Single Vineyard Hickinbotham Cabernet Sauvignon is a structured, classically styled Cabernet from the Hickinbotham vineyard at Clarendon.

Clarendon sits in the hills at the northern edge of McLaren Vale, where higher altitude and cooler nights give Cabernet Sauvignon a finer frame and more aromatic lift than the warmer valley floor. The Hickinbotham vineyard is one of the best-known sites in the area, and Wirra Wirra bottles this wine separately to show its character. The 2024 displays briar fruits, violets, black olive and dried thyme with a touch of sweet oak, then fresh blackberry and blueberry with cardamom, nutmeg and dark chocolate. Cedar oak and powdery tannins bring it all together.

An hour in a decanter helps it open up; pour at around 17 to 18 degrees. It's a fine match for roast lamb, beef fillet with a red wine jus or aged hard cheeses, and should cellar well for ten years or more.
