Wolfburn From The Stills Autumn Single Malt Whisky 2020

Wolfburn From The Stills Autumn is a limited seasonal release of single malt Scotch whisky, with 470 bottles made.

The seasonal bottlings are small parcels picked out by the distillery team at Thurso, each one built from a handful of casks and gone quickly. This one is a shade over five years old, made from spirit matured in an Oloroso sherry hogshead alongside components raised in a bourbon barrel. Numbers are tiny at 470 bottles in total. The distillery is Scotland's most northerly on the mainland, running since 2013 on a site beside the ruins of a nineteenth-century original, and it bottles without chill filtration or added colouring.

Sherry-led, with sultana, orange marmalade and a soft vanilla edge from the bourbon wood. Drink it neat at room temperature with water within reach. It sits well at the end of an evening, with a handful of walnuts or a piece of fruit cake.
