Yalumba FDR1A Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz 2018

Yalumba FDR1A Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz is a classically structured Australian red blend carrying one of the winery's historic cellar codes.

The name comes from the old system of vat and bin codes used in the Angaston cellars, with FDR understood to stand for fine dry red. The label first appeared in the 1970s and has a loyal following among lovers of traditional Australian Cabernet Shiraz. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, giving a frame of currants, savoury herbs and cedar, while Shiraz fills the middle with red fruit and softness. Oak is used as a seasoning, and the wine is built around its acid line and fine tannins. It now has several years of bottle age behind it.

At around 16 to 18 degrees it will show its best, ideally after an hour in a decanter. Roast beef, lamb shoulder or a hard aged cheddar are natural partners. It is drinking well now and will keep for a good while yet.
