Yalumba Paradox Shiraz 2024

Yalumba Paradox Shiraz is a savoury, textural Barossa Shiraz that balances richness with restraint.

Warm days and cool nights in the Barossa give Shiraz real depth of flavour, and the region's older vineyards add concentration. In this release the style leans savoury: earthy tones and brown spice come first, followed by mocha and boysenberry, an ironstone note and subtle purple florals. Oak stays in the background. Suede-like tannins, fine and supple, frame a palate of cranberry and raspberry with darker notes of chocolate, and the finish is balanced and well structured. At 14.5% it carries its warmth comfortably.

Best at around 16 to 18 degrees, with a pepper-crusted steak, venison sausages or a hearty mushroom and lentil pie. It will soften further with a few years in the cellar.
