Yalumba Samuel's Collection Barossa Bush Vine Grenache 2023

Yalumba Samuel's Collection Barossa Bush Vine Grenache is a juicy, fruit-led Grenache from free-standing bush vines.

The Samuel's Collection honours Samuel Smith, the English brewer who planted the first vines at Angaston in 1849. Grenache is one of the Barossa's heritage varieties, and bush vines, trained without trellis wires into a low goblet shape, cope well with the region's warm, dry summers and tend to give small, concentrated crops. This wine puts the fruit first, with cherry, raspberry and red forest berries over rose florals, then Mediterranean herbs, nettle and anise with time in the glass. It is medium-bodied and juicy, with underlying power and mouth-coating tannins.

Serve lightly cool, at 14 to 16 degrees. Great with pork and fennel sausages, a Moroccan chicken tagine or a charcuterie board. Drink over the next few years.
