Yalumba Samuel's Collection Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz is a smooth, balanced take on the great Australian blend.

Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz have been blended in Australia for generations, with Cabernet giving structure and Shiraz adding flesh through the middle. The pairing has particular meaning at this Angaston winery, whose top wine, The Signature, has been built on it since 1962. Here, Barossa fruit is fermented and matured in oak to produce a wine of black fruit, plum and blackcurrant with liquorice, vanilla and a violet lift. The cool 2023 season shows in its freshness, and fine-grained tannins give it a smooth, seamless feel.

Serve at around 16 to 18 degrees with a beef and mushroom pie, grilled lamb chops or a hard sheep's milk cheese. Enjoyable now, it will develop for five years or more.
