Yalumba Samuel's Collection Barossa Shiraz 2024

Yalumba Samuel's Collection Barossa Shiraz is a rich, generous Barossa Shiraz with a velvety texture.

Shiraz is the grape the Barossa is best known for, and the family behind this wine has grown it in the region since Samuel Smith planted his first vines in 1849. The Samuel's Collection, named in his honour, draws on Barossa vineyards chosen for regional character. Time in oak adds clove, nutmeg and a hint of caramel to black brambly fruit and ripe plum. Inky crimson in colour, the wine is rich and full on the palate, with dark berries, cassis and a gentle lift of white pepper, wrapped in suede-like tannins with soft acidity to keep it lively.

Barbecued beef ribs, a lamb and rosemary pie or aged cheddar all suit it well; serve at around 17 to 18 degrees. Drinks well now and will reward five or more years in the cellar.
