Yalumba Samuel's Collection Eden Valley Viognier 2022

Yalumba Samuel's Collection Eden Valley Viognier is a silky, aromatic Viognier from one of the variety's great Australian champions.

Viognier came close to disappearing in France in the 1960s, and the family winery at Angaston was among the first in Australia to plant it, in 1980. Decades of work in the vineyard, nursery and cellar since then have made the grape something of a house specialty. Eden Valley's cooler, higher sites let the fruit ripen fully while holding freshness, which Viognier needs to avoid heaviness. This wine is pure and fragrant, with fresh apricot, ginger and white flowers, and a long, silky palate of stone fruit with a hint of saffron.

Serve chilled, but not icy, at around 9 to 11 degrees. It pairs beautifully with Thai green curry, roast pork with apricot stuffing or Moroccan chicken.
