Yalumba Samuel's Collection Eden Valley Viognier 2023

Yalumba Samuel's Collection Eden Valley Viognier is a lush, textural white from the producer that brought Viognier to prominence in Australia.

The Viognier story here goes back to 1980, when a small planting was made at a time the grape was almost unknown outside the northern Rhône. Since then the team has refined clones, sites and cellar methods, and Eden Valley has become a key source. Its hillside vineyards, with cool nights and granite-based soils, give fruit that keeps its acidity. The 2023 wine offers apricot, ginger and delicate white flowers, then a layered palate of stone fruit, a touch of exotic spice and hints of orange oil before a refreshing finish.

Try it with prawn and mango salad, spicy pork larb or a mild chicken korma. Pour it lightly chilled, at around 10 degrees, and enjoy within a few years of vintage.
