Yalumba Sanctum Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Yalumba Sanctum Cabernet Sauvignon is a softer, fruit-forward style of Coonawarra Cabernet.

Coonawarra, in South Australia's Limestone Coast, is famous for its strip of red terra rossa soil over limestone and for Cabernet Sauvignon with defined blackcurrant fruit and a savoury, leafy edge. The Angaston winery has long made several of its best-known reds from the district. This wine is made to be approachable young: deep crimson, with blueberry and chocolate aromas, a hint of vanilla and spice, and a palate of blackcurrant and blueberry with a savoury, umami note and soft tannins. At 13% alcohol it sits on the lighter, fresher side for the region.

This is an easy match for a good burger, pasta with meat sauce or a grilled lamb wrap, served at around 16 degrees. Drink it over the next few years while the fruit is at its brightest.
