Yalumba The Tri-Centenary Grenache 1.5L MAGNUM 2019

Yalumba The Tri-Centenary Grenache in magnum is a large-format bottling of Grenache from bush vines planted at Vine Vale in 1889.

Vines that have now spanned three centuries give this wine its name, and they are among the most precious Grenache plantings anywhere. Low yields from these gnarled bush vines produce small berries with deep flavour. In 2019, a dry and small vintage, the wine spent 249 days on skins after fermentation, a patient maceration that gives remarkable silkiness and refinement. It is floral and intriguing, with blueberry, wild cherry, raspberry and pomegranate entwined with orange zest, pepper, spice and leafy notes, and has depth, structure and defined tannins.

A magnum suits a long lunch for eight. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees with slow-roasted pork shoulder, lamb with harissa or a Provençal vegetable tian. It will continue to evolve gracefully over the medium term.
