Description

Yalumba Y Series Shiraz Viognier is a full-bodied South Australian red that blends Shiraz with a splash of the white grape Viognier.

Yalumba played a pioneering role with Viognier in Australia, planting it in the Eden Valley around 1980 when few others were interested, and adding a little of it to Shiraz is a tradition borrowed from Côte-Rôtie in the northern Rhône. The Viognier lifts the aromatics and helps soften the texture. The result here is a wine of pretty, exotic aromas and a full-bodied palate of rose petals, chocolate and cherry, wrapped in velvety tannins. Founded in 1849 and still family-owned, Yalumba makes its Y Series wines in a vegan-friendly way.

Serve at around 17 degrees. It's excellent with lamb tagine, roast duck, spiced beef or a platter of hard cheeses.
