Description
Yangarra Hickinbotham Clarendon Grenache comes from one of the oldest Grenache plantings in McLaren Vale.
The Hickinbotham Clarendon vineyard sits in the hills at the eastern edge of McLaren Vale, higher and cooler than the valley floor, on ironstone and clay over sandstone. Its old Grenache dates to the 1940s. Yangarra Estate was bought by the Jackson Family in 2000 and is farmed biodynamically and certified, with Peter Fraser's work there having done much to re-establish Grenache as a serious Australian variety. Fruit is hand-picked, fermented with whole bunches in ceramic eggs and older oak, with no new wood.
Serve slightly cool at 16 degrees with lamb, duck or mushrooms. It will develop over ten to fifteen years.
