Description
A hybrid of carafe and decanter, with a slim body, a longer neck and a glass ball that rests on the rim as a loose closure.
Zalto Glas is a family glassworks in Austria's Kremstal, where every piece is mouth-blown by hand and made without lead, the bowls angled to 24, 48 and 72 degrees after the tilt of the earth. The No 67 was a later addition to the range and reads as the piece that fills the gap between the two. The silhouette is narrow and tapers upwards to a neck that is longer than the older carafes, which makes it easier to control a pour at the table and keeps the vessel manageable when it is full. That narrowing also makes it a sound choice for decanting sparkling wine, where a wide, open shape would give the bead away too quickly. The ball sits on the rim rather than sealing, holding aroma in and keeping the contents clear of anything in the room.
Use it for wine, for sparkling wine and equally for water, juice and other non-alcoholic drinks at the table. Hand-wash in warm water without detergent and dry with a lint-free cloth.
