Zalto Carafe No25

The smallest of the three carafes, 175 millimetres tall with a 350 millilitre capacity.

Zalto Glas is a family glassworks in Austria's Kremstal, where every piece is mouth-blown by hand and made without lead, the bowls angled to 24, 48 and 72 degrees after the tilt of the earth. The No 25 is built for small volumes: a half bottle, a taste being opened up before a meal, or a single serve of something that wants a few minutes of air. The proportions are the same as the larger carafes, simply reduced, so it keeps the clean pour and the easy handling and takes up almost no room on a table. It cleans without a brush and drains by being inverted onto a tea towel, and its size makes it the easiest of the three to fit into a refrigerator, whether for a white wine or to cool a decanted red that has drifted above where it should be.

Use it for small pours of wine, or for water at a place setting. Hand-wash in warm water without detergent and dry with a lint-free cloth.
