Zalto Glas is a family glassworks in Austria's Kremstal, where every piece is mouth-blown by hand and made without lead, the bowls angled to 24, 48 and 72 degrees after the tilt of the earth. The Champagne glass answers the moment when a flute is what the table calls for, and does it without the heaviness that usually comes with the form. The bowl is tall and narrow, so the bead has a long path to travel and the mousse holds rather than collapsing, and the rim keeps the aromatics gathered above a small surface. Mouth-blown walls make it light in the hand and fine at the lip, which is where most flutes give themselves away. It is worth filling it modestly: the upper part of the bowl is doing the aromatic work, and a glass filled to the brim gives that away.

Made for Champagne, Prosecco, Spumante, Cava and other sparkling wines, and supplied as a six pack. Hand-wash in warm water without detergent and dry with a lint-free cloth.
