Zalto Universal Glass Single Pack

A single all-rounder, with a bowl that carries weight and depth without letting finer detail slip away.

Zalto Glas is a family glassworks in Austria's Kremstal, where every piece is mouth-blown by hand and made without lead, the bowls angled to 24, 48 and 72 degrees after the tilt of the earth. The Universal takes the ground between the White Wine and Burgundy shapes and covers most of it. It suits more full-bodied, powerful or developed wines, letting depth and intensity show while the taper towards the rim keeps underlying complexity and finesse in view. It handles pretty much all Italian wine, though older Nebbiolo is often happier in the Burgundy glass, along with mature whites and reds from anywhere else. Mature Chablis, Riesling, Chianti and Australian wine of any age are all good candidates, and it is a fine glass for grower Champagne, which is a lot to ask of one shape.
